EAST VS. WEST: SLMR Late Models Invade ACS for Ray Houck Memorial Showdown
The Annual Ray Houck Memorial takes on a new twist this Saturday, July 30th when both sides of the Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series collide for a $6,000 to win Showdown. Originally slated as a $5,000 to win Tribute to the former ACS Promoter, thanks to support from numerous sponsors and the "Friends of Ray Houck" this event has grown into one of the highest paying late model events at ACS in a number of years.
Typically a Malvern Bank West Series event, track officials wanted to bring more to the 2022 edition and have worked to make this a co-sanctioned event that also brings in the drivers from the Hoker Trucking East Series of the SLMR. A field of over 30 late models is expected. In addition to the added winners bonus money, the nights overall Fastest Qualifier will net a $200 bonus along with $200 going home with each of the nights Late Model heat race winners thanks to Jeremy Houck & 5 Star Trucking.
The Poet Biorefining Modifieds will be racing for a special $1,000 to win pay day thanks to Shore Motor Company in Clarinda that will feature a draw/re-draw format along with track and NASCAR Points. B-mod's and Stock Cars will each race for $500 to win, Chat Mobility Hobby Stocks $400, & Liberty Realty Compacts $175/Win. A NASCAR License is required for the ACS divisions, but drivers can obtain a temporary license for just $25.
Gates will open at 5:00 pm, ACS Draw closes at 6:10 pm, Hot Laps 6:30 pm with qualifying and racing to follow.
